Since 1995, we've been designing gardens big and small. With schedule, budget and climate always in mind, we create sanctuaries rich in texture and color, dimension and depth. From the rigid geometry of a tailored French garden to the wild overgrowth of the native California landscape, our work reflects the dreams of each of its unique inhabitants.
We believe in the powerful connection between humans and nature, and create environments that call upon all of our senses to produce a truly moving, inspiring and evocative outdoor living experience. We use drought-tolerant plants and species native to each garden's area, ensuring our landscapes are easily maintained and ecologically responsible. From celebrity garden sanctuaries to shared rooftop environments, we believe that enjoying a living, breathing outdoor environment is fundamental to our human existence.
Our furniture work was born from a need to outfit our spaces with just the right pieces in order to effectively tell the stories we wanted told. We developed a passion for making furniture pieces that not only responded to the projects we made them for, but that were thoughtful enough to compliment any environment. From the multi-dimensional Leaf table used in the guest rooms at the Line Hotel, to the modern Eldo line used at our award-winning A-Frame restaurant, our pieces are as functional as they are sculptural. Like our gardens, our furniture makes use of humble materials in novel ways to evoke powerful human responses.
Today, we continue to make furniture with the help of an in-house staff of industrial designers and close relationships with manufacturers in the US and around the world. We believe that solid furnishings are essential to much of the work we do, and are confident in our ability to create pieces that elevate our spaces above the rest.
Our award-winning restaurant work has been featured in publications world-wide. From repurposing existing existing structures to designing comprehensive furniture schemes, our work is tailored to serve the needs of each unique business. Like our work in the garden, we believe that the dining experience is essential to the human experience, and we take the care to create visceral environments that nourish the senses.
We pay great attention to every detail, ensuring that every space we create paints a complete and vivid picture of the story its food tells. We believe in the drama of the dining experience, and that color and material should work alongside food and drink to transport users to enchanting new places.
Our most recent hospitality venture is the newly refurbished Line Hotel in Los Angeles' Koreatown. From the guest suites to the hotel lobby, the bar to the restaurant, the outdoor space to the breathtaking second-floor greenhouse lounge, the project showcases our passion for celebrating the undervalued in the urban environment.
Using tee-shirts for ceiling treatments and wildflowers as wall covering, the hotel elevates the quotidian in rich, innovative and compelling new ways. It borrows from the cultural, natural and designed lexicon of Los Angeles itself to create a space where tourists can get to know the city and locals can feel at home.
The home is where the heart is, and we couldn't take this cultural idiom any more seriously. We believe that an inspiring living space is essential to our spiritual well-being, and work with our clients to create distinct spaces that respond to the ways in which they live their lives. Though mindful of our guiding principals, our varied residential portfolio reflects our flexibility and skill in delivering unique homes to unique clients.
From the architecture to the furniture, we are committed to creating spaces that function, that speak to our clients' needs and lifestyles. We do this by paying diligent attention to every detail, ensuring that the whole space speaks the same, unified language. In the end, our goal is simple: create a great home that our client will admire, in the hopes that it may inspire the greatness that's inside of them.
What's a great garden without a pool to cool off in? From the Egyptians to the Romans, the Persians to the Japanese, the soothing powers of the water have been used to maximum healing effect for centuries. Like our indelible connection to green space, our human connection to the water is inescapable and ever-powerful. It's also necessary on a 101* afternoon in the Los Angeles sun.
Just as our gardens aim to layer texture, color and material to maximum effect, so too do our pools aim to create seamlessly layered connections to our living environment. We use natural stones and responsible heating systems to create healing spaces that look like they're of the earth they're carved into. From infinity pools to elevated saunas, our work responds to the unique needs of both architecture and client.
Born from our love of the furniture-making process, we've begun making products that can be used to bring functionality and delight to our daily lives. From a line of teacup lamps to hand-chipped dinnerware, our products are key characters in the stories of our spaces.
